Columbia University has been designated a 2015 Military Friendly® School by Victory Media, a trusted source for service members and their families. The Military Friendly® School title is awarded to universities who demonstrate a consistent commitment to their student veterans. Selected institutions completed a survey of over 100 questions, which included criteria such as military support on campus, graduation and employment outcomes, and financial benefits.

“Post secondary institutions earning the 2016 Military Friendly® School award have exceptionally strong programs for transitioning service members and spouses,” said Daniel Nichols, Chief Product Officer of Victory Media and Navy Reserve veteran. “Our Military Friendly® Schools are truly aligning their military programs and services with employers to help students translate military experience, skills, and training into successful careers after graduation.”

The Columbia University School of General Studies enrolls over 400 veteran students, and represents 95% of the undergraduate student veteran population in the Ivy League. On campus, student veterans have access to veteran-specific advising and a robust network of veteran students and alumni, in addition to the diverse academic and extra-curricular opportunities offered by Columbia University. Student veterans enrich the classroom and campus experience for their peers, and are a critical component of the school’s diverse student body.
